Internal SCSI Cable Kit

Regular price $29.95

Replace your Ensoniq, MPC, Emu ESi, or Roland S7x sampler floppy drive with a ZuluSCSI, SCSI2SD, or RaSCSI using the Internal Cable Kit. No more floppy disks, no more waiting for loading, no more lugging around extra pieces of equipment.

Supports the Ensoniq EPS,  EPS 16-Plus, ASR-10/88, ASR-X; the Akai MPC-60, MPC-3000, MPC-2000 and MPC-2000XL, the Emu ESi32/2000/4000, and the Roland S7x.

It's easy to install - takes most users about 30 minutes to an hour. The Internal SCSI Cable Kit comes with all custom cables and instructions, and a 3.5" standard form-factor tray so you can replace your floppy drive.

If you already have your SCSI drive, you can order the Internal Cable Kit separately.

Note: The SCSI2SD v6.0 Drive is not in stock; however, we do NOT recommend them with the samplers mentioned here, as they all use proprietary disk formats. Instead, choose the ZuluSCSI Internal Drive. The SCSI2SD option is mentioned here just out of completeness.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • (ALL) Requires SCSI Interface to be already installed in your sampler.
  • (Ensoniq EPS/ASR only) If you plan to use this with a ZipDrive, please be aware that the 16-Plus with an Ensoniq-made SCSI Kit (the SP-1 or SP-2) may not be compatible. Click here for more information.
  • (Ensoniq EPS/ASR only) The only functional drawback of an internal drive (replacing the physical spot of the floppy) is that without the floppy drive, you cannot format a SCSI Drive from the Ensoniq itself. The OS is set up so when you boot off the SCSI unit, the FORMAT SCSI DRIVE function does not show. It was supposed to be some type of safety feature.
Workarounds include: finding an Ensoniq to format many disks at once, so you have them on-hand. Or, if you have a ZipDrive on your computer (it doesn't have to be SCSI), you can download Chicken System's Translator Free from their web site and format the ZipDisk to Ensoniq format on that.
  • (Akai MPC60/3000 only) Comes with a floppy power extension and ferrite chokes  to ensure less RFI interference.
  • (Akai MPC2000/Roland S7x only) The purpose of this cable is because these samplers do not have internal SCSI ports, so this cable routes from the external connection and slip inside, into the case. Note: the MPC2000XL DOES have an internal port so it is not included, but the MPC2000 plain does not have one.
  • (Roland S760 only) Includes two jumpers, as you must fool the S760 that the floppy still is connected. Instructions are included.

Summarizing, the Internal SCSI Cable Kit works on all ASR-X models, all ASR-10/88 models,  and on all EPS's; the Akai MPC-60 / 3000 / 2000, the Emu ESi32 / 2000 / 4000, and all Roland S7x models.

Download the EPS/ASR Internal Cable Kit instructions here; it refers to ZipDrives but it also applies to the ZuluSCSI, SCSI2SD, or other units.

Download the ASR-X Internal Cable Kit instructions here; it refers to ZipDrives but it also applies to the ZuluSCSI, SCSI2SD, or other units.

This was formerly referred to - since 1996 - the Internal ZipDrive Kit. We recommend using the modern SD card solutions instead of ZipDrives.
